(Spain 2003) This is an Alberto Cui Sanchez documentary. Synposis: The legend of the strongest Greek mythology super-hero and his quest for redemption. To pay for his guilt after committing a heinous crime, Hercules undertook the adventure known as the twelve labors.
Gods of Greek Mythology
(Spain 2009) This is a documentary by Oscar Funes. Synopsis: This documentary is a great review for the Pantheon of the gods of Olympus, their stories, hatreds, romances, and adventures in the world of men.

Quilting Workshop Begins (one 2-hour module per week, 8 weeks)
This is a workshop of eight modules (2 hours each) that teaches the New England style of quilting. All of the tools to do the work are provided, but the student must supply the actual material. Space is limited to 4 at a time, so go by and make sure they have a space for you. The description of the modules sounds as if there will be lots of great information in this course.

Weekly Language Exchange
Every Friday in Hotel Campestre there is a language exchange. The comfortable setting is peaceful, on the terrace, with great coffee. This Friday, they will have a special movie night. Symphony Orchestra of Yucatan: Program 1
The Yucatan Symphony Orchestra opens its season performing two works of German composer Felix Mendelssohn. The first is The Hebrides, a work describing the beauty of Fingal caves on the island of Staffa, among small islands north of Scotland. Also presented in this program are works by the genius of French Impressionism, Maurice Ravel. OSY will transport us to the magical world of Mother Goose inspired by the story of Charles Perrault. Legend has it that a gypsy predicted success for this great composer with his famous Bolero based on a Spanish dance, that was first performed in 1928. In this program, the OSY will present the program from their first CD, playing each of the recorded works of the three most important Mexican composers: Chavez, Revueltas and Moncayo, as well as the first orchestral recording of Metro Chabacano de Javier Alvarez, and the only Concert for Piano by Ricardo Castro. Second Annual White City Ball - Saturday, October 18
This is the annual AANY fundraiser. The White City Ball promises to be the most glamorous event of the fall season. Trova music will greet you and a live band will keep you dancing. The price includes botanas from some of the best restaurants and caterers in Merida including Trattoria La Pasta, Bistro Cultural, Merida Home Cooking to Go, V’s Good Eats, and more. Sweets from Café Crème and Yury’s Decadent Brownies will end the night on a sweet note. There will be a cash bar and a silent auction, including pieces by AANY artists. For those of you coming from the beach, there will be a list of B&Bs and inns that will give you a discount for the weekend of the Ball.

Miraculous Medal Race - November 23
This running event is open to the general public and is being held as a benefit for the Chelem Chapel. The course is approximately 14 miles long. Prizes to be announced. Categories include: free, master, submaster, male and female veterans, and veterans plus wheel chair. There will also be additional events, such as 5K hikes, walks. This event is under the direction of the Institute of Sport (IDEY).
