Opening of the Exposition: Habanerorama

Yucatan's MACAY Joins Google Art Project March 18 and beyond
As of March 18, the works of Francisco Garcia Ponce will be available for few to museum quality art lovers around the world. This Google Art Project began in 2011 with just 17 museums. Today, it boasts over 300 collections with 55,000 works of art in museums around the world. The collection that will be shared by the MACAY contains 119 works by Francisco Garcia Ponce, completed between 1957 and 1986. The media includes acrylic paint, mixed media, collage, and printmaking. These works were all chosen in honor of the 20th anniversary of the creation of the Francisco Garcia Ponce Museum in the MACAY.

(Spain 2007) In 1978, Barcelona launched a social program for Can Tunis, a neighbourhood where people hovered between life and death. Twenty years later, things are not going well. The movie shows how they fight the utter deterioration and indifference of inhabitants and authorities. A teacher tries to motivate his students. He knows that education makes them aware of their reality and offers them the only opportunity.

Light Game: JAM Celebration
This concert includes live music by Leika Mochan (Mexico), but it is really an opportunity for the teachers and students to interact on stage. They have been involved in a wonderful international workshop for the past week or so and this is going to be a great performance! Goal: 100 animals spayed or neutered, with more expected
Cost per animal: $400 pesos, which covers the cost of surgical supplies, anti-parasite meds, follow-up meds and additional vaccinations and antibiotics if required. Most animals get their nails trimmed and their ears cleaned. Vets, vet techs, vet students and volunteers donate their time.
