I tried the sopa de lima here and was very disappointed. As a professional chef myself, let me recommend another place: Cafeteria Impala, which is a little outdoor eatery located at the very beginning of the Paseo de Montejo. Cost is around 33 pesos per bowl, which is roughly the same price as El Trapiche. The other dishes there are so-so, unless you like BBQ chicken (order the Yucatan chicken). But it's worth going just for the soup. Oh, and they're only open in the evenings. I live nearby and tried it on a whim - was pleasantly surprised.

I would recommend El Trapiche for nachos. Just say what you want on them, and they'll make it for you. Also very good salsa which comes free of charge.

I agree - El Trapiche serves one of the best sopa de lima in the city at a great price.

This place is great! Their sopa de lima is excellent, and they usually have some good special that is not on the menu. The chicken or pastor tacos are very good, and we had a beautiful green salad made fresh one day when i was craving some vegetables. We've been here twice and were not disappointed. Way better than El Fogoncito.
