Amaro is one of my favorites in Mérida. The setting is beautiful, the food excellent, and the service superb. After a few visits, the waiters Enrique and Alvaro became friends. I look forward to seeing them again every time I return to Mérida.

I was there a few weeks ago on a girls night out. Overall the food was just all right. Nothing spectacular really. The service was the usual Merida slow. I will have to say that the ambience was just wonderful but sadly I will not got back. They crossed the line when someone in the kitchen or waiter took a bite out of my left over pizza that they were putting in a doggie bag for me.

My friend and I ate here this week and it was great overall. We shared the grilled vegetable plate and the arrachera plate (i know it's a vegetarian place but they had meat on the menu, so we wanted to try it) and they were both excellent. I would definitely go there again. Skip the tortilla chips... they are super greasy, and the sopa de lima was not very good, so we didn't eat it after the first bite.
