About this time of year, if you don't already HAVE plans, you are wondering what to do for Christmas Eve and New Years Eve. Here’s our annual rundown of what the local hotels are doing (all prices are in Pesos). For sure there are more activities going on, so If you know of another special event for either of these two days, feel free to add it in the Comments area.

Fiesta Americana Merida
Christmas at Cafe Montejo
Cafe Montejo will be serving an International buffet Christmas dinner on the 24th. Price includes IVA, and la propina (tip) but no drinks. 50% payment required for reservation.

Christmas Eve buffet dinner includes stuffed turkey or Beef filet a la Vernesse, a piñata, punch to drink and live music and traditional sweets. Bread, coffee or tea is included too. There will even be surprise gifts for guests.

Hotel Aluxes
Hotel Aluxes' Christmas Eve dinner will be at the Popol-Vuh Salon and consists of a four-course meal, including a choice of entrada (house paté or German style potatoes), a choice of salad (Greek or Caesar, a choice of soup (cheese or artichoke) and a choice of four main courses (chicken, shrimp, turkey or beef) and dessert (Chocolate Brownie, Kiwi or Strawberry tart). The price includes a Christmas toast, soft drinks, and the dinner, accompanied by a live musical group for dancing.
Price: $420 pesos per adult, $250 pesos per child 5-11 years. IVA and tip included. Additional $130 pesos for open bar, including national beer, brandy, rum, vodka and tequila.

New Year’s Eve at Hotels and Restaurants in Merida
Lizard Joe's New Years Eve 2012
Its a Party Party New Years Eve with Joe King Carraso, dubbed as #1 Party Act on the Planet by MTV. Lizard Joes will have 3 Bands on New Years Eve: 6PM – 8PM Blues by Cher Bibler formally of Tinfoil & Aramando GTZ, 8PM – 10PM African Beat Reggae by Wisdom Ogbor originally from Nigeria and 10:30PM – ??? Joe King Carrasco with Internationally Famous Bassist Steve York and Lisa York. There will be free party favors, free champagne, Texas Tamales and Black-Eyed Peas at midnight.
