Merida English Library
Join MEL on Saturday, January 9th at 11 am for a fascinating lecture by Alejandro Alcocer Alvirde, Mexico City native, ethnomusicologist, and founder of the Museum of Mexican Music in Cholul, Yucatan.
The Museum contains Alejandro’s collection of over 1,000 indigenous instruments collected from his many years of service in the National Indigenous Institute, and Alejandro can play every single one of them! He will discuss the history, evolution, and use of the instruments and will bring instruments to the library for a live demonstration. Don’t miss this special event!
This event is free and open to the public.
