Musica Antigua Mérida joins Dr. Keith Thorp in leading a Service of Lessons and Carols for Christmas at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, corner of Calle 55 at 76 in Mérida Centro. The service will include the nine traditional readings and well-known carols for all to sing, as well as villancicos from the Mexican Baroque repertoire. Julia Arcudia will be the soprano soloist, Gocha Skhirtladze, Yana Akopova, Alma Diaz and Francisco Monteverde, from the Yucatán Symphony, will accompany. The service will be fully bi-lingual, with all texts translated, and all congregational hymns will include verses in Spanish as well as English. Admission is free, though a free-will offering will be taken.
