Adopt A Mature Dog
Here is the second part of a series that we still hope is a very short one of Pets for Adoption. (We seriously DOUBT it will be a short series, but we can dream, right?).
If you are considering getting a pet, we highly encourage you (we'd FORCE you if we could...) to adopt a pet instead of buying one. Bookmark this section of Yucatan Living and check here periodically... and please tell your friends. If you are ready for a dog or cat, check here first to see about an adoption.
An Older, More Mature Dog
This sweet dog is older (probably 5-6 years) and would make a nice companion to someone who would like a calmer, even-tempered dog. We found this guy laying in a park in Centro. He was thin and very thirsty. He was wary at first, but warmed up quickly to human affection. We took him home, and after a good meal, he slept as if it had been a long time since he had a good night’s rest.
He is very gentle and likes to lie around a lot – he’s very laid-back. Also, he’s really cute - when something peaks his interest, one ear goes up and the other stays down. He seems to have been owned by someone at some time, given how comfortable he is with human contact. He would make a wonderful pet for a loving person or family.
Editors Note: We found out own Mali this way. She was lost, lonely, dirty and tired in Santa Ana Park. She came home with us and after one restless night, was relaxed and playful. Now, she's a part of the family and we can't imagine being without her. We hope you will consider adopting this dog and we know you won't regret it!
